Further information on supporting our work.A broad range of medium refresh rate IPS models are now on the market. The Gigabyte M27QA joins the party, with its 180Hz QHD IPS panel. The monitor has the usual simple styling associated with the series, with extensive use of black matte plastic and an angled stand base. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front. A dedicated KVM button is also included.
A 27″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) IPS-type panel is included, with 180Hz refresh rate and Adaptive-Sync support. VRR technologies such as AMD FreeSync and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ are supported with 50 – 180Hz VRR range plus LFC. A matte anti-glare screen surface is adopted with a 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit colour specified. A flicker-free WLED backlight delivers a 350 cd/m² (400 cd/m² HDR peak) typical maximum luminance and 95% DCI-P3 (130% sRGB) colour gamut. The monitor includes Low Blue Light (LBL) settings, with enhanced viewing comfort in mind. A basic HDR10 response is provided at the VESA DisplayHDR 400 level, but the monitor lacks a high brightness by HDR standards and no local dimming is specified. A 1ms MPRT response time is specified using the included strobe backlight mode, but as usual pay little attention to this figure. The stand offers tilt plus 130mm (5.12 inches) height adjustment, with 100 x 100mm VESA mount provision included. The ports face downwards and include; a 3.5mm headphone jack, 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, DP 1.4, USB-C (10W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data), USB-B upstream, 2 USB 3.2 downstream ports and a DC power input (external ‘power brick’). PiP/PbP is supported
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. At time of writing ‘HDMI 2.1’ appears to be incorrectly specified, with only HDMI 2.0 mentioned in the product manual. Information on price and availability still to come.
