A broad range of such screens is now available, with many including IPS-type panels. The Dell P2422H and P2422HE are two such offerings, members of the company’s infamous P Series. They have a sleek professional-looking design, with satin-finish silver plastic used for the stand and matte black plastic for the bottom bezel. A white-coloured Dell logo is found on the stand neck, rather than the bottom bezel. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with a slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus a slim hard plastic outer component. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the monitor, towards the right side as viewed from in front. A dedicated power button is also located there.
A 23.8″ 60Hz IPS-type panel is employed, with 1920 x 1080 (Full HD or 1080p) resolution. Other aspects of note include a 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles, 8-bit colour support and a matte anti-glare screen surface. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides ~sRGB colour space coverage and a 250 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. The screen includes ‘ComfortView Plus’, which means the backlight has its peak of blue light shifted to less energetic wavelengths. Potentially enhancing viewing comfort. A ‘Warm’ colour temperature setting is also included as a Low Blue Light (LBL) setting. A 5ms grey to grey response time is specified, but as usual don’t put too much weight on this. The stand attaches centrally using a quick-release mechanism, with 100 x 100mm VESA holes revealed after it’s removed. The stand included offers full ergonomic flexibility, including 150mm (5.91 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), HDMI 1.4, DP 1.2 and 4 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports. The ‘H’ model includes a USB-B upstream port plus VGA, whereas the ‘HE’ has a USB-C port (65W PD, DP Alt Mode and upstream data). 2 of the USB 3.2 ports are located at the bottom of the screen, separate from the main port area for easy access.
Further details are available on the manufacturer’s website. The ‘H’ model is listed for ~$270 USD and ‘HE’ for ~$350 USD.
