Corsair XENEON 32UHD144 144Hz 4K IPS with HDMI 2.1

Further information on supporting our work.When we reviewed Corsair’s first XENEON gaming monitor, the 32QHD165, we felt they got a lot of things right. But the pricing compared to its competitors, with superior HDR performance, made it difficult to recommend. The XENEON 32UHD144 is another offering from the company which appears to avoid those same mistakes. The monitor adopts the same very solid die-cast aluminium stand and overall styling. Including slim dual-stage bezels at the top and sides – with a panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer component. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front. A dedicated power button is also included, above this.
A 32″ IPS-type panel is adopted, more specifically an AUO AHVA panel (M320QAN02.3 most likely), with 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) resolution. A 144Hz refresh rate is supported, alongside HDMI 2.1 VRR + Adaptive-Sync, including Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync Premium with 48 – 144Hz VRR range + LFC. Other aspects of note include a light to very light matte anti-glare screen surface, 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) colour. A Quantum Dot LED backlight provides a 600 cd/m²+ HDR peak luminance and specified 98% DCI-P3 (100% Adobe RGB) colour gamut. VESA DisplayHDR 600 support allows the monitor to respond to HDR10 content in quite a dynamic way, with 10-bit colour reproduction and the generous gamut put to work alongside edge-lit local dimming. Based on competing models, 16-zone local dimming is likely used.
A 1ms MPRT response time is specified using the ‘MPRT’ strobe backlight setting – caution advised with such figures and also note this is not a grey to grey response time claim. The included stand offers tilt, swivel and height (110mm or 4.33 inches) adjustment with attachment by 100 x 100mm VESA. It can be replaced with an alternative VESA 100 solution, if preferred. The ports face downwards and include; a 3.5mm headphone jack, 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4 (DSC), USB-C (15W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data), USB-C (15W PD only), 2 USB 3.1 ports and DC power input (external ‘power brick’). HDMI 2.1 provides a 120Hz ‘4K’ UHD signal with VRR to devices including the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
