High refresh rate OLED monitors combine exceptional fluidity with pleasing image quality, making them attractive options for gaming. The Corsair XENEON 27QHD240 is built with this in mind, featuring a 240Hz QHD OLED panel. The stand has a wide matte black plastic neck and ‘penguin foot’ base. The monitor has ‘dual-stage’ bezels at all sides, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen (thicker at the bottom) and thin hard plastic outer part. A slight underhang is also present beneath the bottom bezel, housing some of the electronics and including a joystick for OSD (On Screen Display) control. A proximity sensor allows the screen to display on-screen labels for the control system when your hand is near it.

An unfussy design at the front

A 26.5″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) LG Display WOLED panel (RWBG subpixel layout) is adopted with 240Hz refresh rate. Adaptive-Sync support is included, allowing technologies such as AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia’s ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used, with 48 – 240Hz VRR range plus LFC assumed. HDMI 2.1 VRR may also be supported. A matte anti-glare screen surface is included, with 1.5m:1 static contrast ratio and 178°/178° viewing angles specified. The panel is flicker-free with peak of blue light being shifted to less energetic wavelengths to aid viewing comfort. A 98.5% DCI-P3 colour gamut is specified with claimed 1000 cd/m² HDR peak brightness. The monitor offers a dynamic response for HDR10 content with per-pixel illumination, 10-bit colour processing and the generous DCI-P3 coverage put to good use – alongside some fairly strong brightness pulses.

A 0.03ms grey to grey response time is specified, which as usual you shouldn’t put too much weight on. Though OLED technology is known for its exceptional pixel responsiveness. The stand is fully adjustable, including 100mm (3.94 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. It can be removed to reveal provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting. The ports are arranged vertically at the rear, either side of the stand neck, and include; 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4 (with DSC), USB-C (unspecified PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data), DC power input (external ‘power brick’), USB-C downstream, 4 USB 3.1 ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 2-system PiP/PbP is supported and a 3 year “Zero Burn In” and “Zero Dead Pixel” warranty is included.
