Many of these options use IPS-type panels, which combine strong colour performance with generally decent responsiveness. The Acer XV322QK V (not to be confused with the IPS-type ‘KV’ variant) is a VA offering with a focus on improved contrast. HDMI 2.1 support is included, allowing a ‘4K’ UHD @120Hz signal to be used for compatible consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X. The monitor includes the usual ‘Nitro’ styling with matte black plastic bottom bezel, weighted stand base with plastic upper surface and coated metal cylindrical neck. The top and side bezels are dual-stage with a slender panel border flush with the rest of the screen, plus a slim hard plastic outer part. An integrated sensor suite is located in the central left region of the bottom bezel. This provides ‘LightSense’ and ‘ColourSense’ that can adjust the brightness and colour temperature, respectively, according to ambient lighting. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons on the underside of the bottom bezel, towards the right side.
A 31.5″ 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) VA panel is used. This has an assumed 3000:1 static contrast, 178°/178° viewing angles and support for 10-bit colour. A 144Hz refresh rate is offered alongside Adaptive-Sync, with support for AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia’s ‘G-SYNC Compatible Mode’ with 48 – 144Hz VRR range (plus LFC) assumed. HDMI 2.1 VRR is also supported. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a typical maximum luminance of 350 cd/m² (500 cd/m² HDR peak) plus 90% DCI-P3 and 95% Adobe RGB colour gamut. The monitor is ‘Eyesafe’ certified by TÜV Rheinland, meaning the peak of blue light is shifted to less energetic wavelengths and the amplitude of the peak is reduced. Potentially aiding viewing comfort. A factory calibrated sRGB emulation setting is also included with specified DeltaE ≤1.
The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified, allowing the monitor to respond to HDR10 content and put its reasonably wide colour gamut to use alongside 10-bit colour support. It doesn’t require a particularly high luminance by HDR standards or require local dimming to enhance contrast. A 1ms MPRT response time is specified using the included VRB (Visual Response Boost) strobe backlight setting. The stand offers tilt, height and swivel adjustment and attaches via a quick-release mechanism. It can be removed to make way for an alternative 100 x 100mm VESA compatible solution. The ports include; 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4 (with DSC), 4 USB 3.0 ports (plus upstream) and a 3.5mm audio output. 2 x 2W speakers are also included for basic audio.
