Further information on supporting our work.27″ WQHD models with high refresh rate remain very attractive for gaming and general-purpose use. The Acer XV272U RV of the Nitro XV2 series provides this. The usual weighted circular stand base and cylindrical metal stand neck is included – with dark red ring at the join point between the two. Dark matte plastic coats the top of the stand base and is also used (with a ridged texture) for the bottom bezel. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus slender hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons and a joystick running down the rear of the monitor, towards the right side as viewed from in front.
A 27″ 2560 x 1440 (WQHD or 1440p) IPS-type panel is used, an AUO Advanced Reflectionless Technology (A.R.T.) panel, more specifically. A 170Hz refresh rate is supported via internal factory overclock, along with Adaptive-Sync – including AMD FreeSync Premium with 48 – 170Hz VRR range plus LFC assumed. Other aspects of note include a 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles and true 8-bit colour support. A matte anti-glare screen surface is used, with effective glare-handling being a key focus of the ‘A.R.T’ panel. A flicker-free WLED backlight delivers a 400 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut. The monitor is ‘Eyesafe’ certified by TÜV Rheinland, with the blue peak shifted to less energetic wavelengths and the amplitude of the peak reduced to potentially improve viewing comfort. Traditional Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are also included to promote a more relaxing viewing experience.
Basic HDR10 support is included at the VESA DisplayHDR 400 level – allowing 10-bit colour processing and the reasonably generous gamut to be put to good use. But not requiring particularly high brightness levels or local dimming to enhance contrast. A 1ms grey to grey response time is specified, but as usual approach such figures with caution. The included stand offers full adjustability including 120mm (4.72 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. The stand attaches via a quick-release mechanism and can be removed to reveal 100 x 100mm VESA holes for alternative mounting. The ports mainly face downwards and include; AC power (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, DP 1.2a+ (HDR feature set), a 3.5mm audio output and 2 USB 3.0 ports (plus upstream). 2 additional USB 3.0 ports are located at the left side, as viewed from the front. 2 x 2W speakers are also included for basic audio output.
Further details can be found on this press release from the manufacturer. The monitor is listed for ~$330 USD.
