Further information on supporting our work.High refresh rate QHD IPS models can provide a fluid and colour-rich gaming experience. The Acer Predator XB273U F5 delivers this, with its 360Hz QHD IPS panel. The screen includes the usual ‘aggressive’ styling of the series, with tripod-style metal stand base and matte black plastics used elsewhere. The top and side bezels are ‘dual stage’ with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus slim hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front.
A 27″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) IPS-type panel is used, with 360Hz refresh rate and ‘full fat’ Nvidia G-SYNC delivered via a MediaTek scaler. This allows VRR support for Nvidia GPUs and can be accessed via Adaptive-Sync for AMD GPUs (‘FreeSync’) and likely HDMI 2.1 VRR. Nvidia users can also used G-SYNC Pulsar, a strobe backlight setting setting which can be used at the same time as VRR. A matte anti-glare screen surface is used, with 178°/178° viewing angles and 8-bit colour specified. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 90% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 500 cd/m² (550 cd/m² HDR peak) typical maximum luminance.
Basic HDR10 support is provided, though the brightness capability and gamut is quite limited by HDR standards and no local dimming is specified (though limited edge-lit local dimming may be included). A ‘0.5ms min’ grey to grey response time is specified, which should be taken with the usual pinch of salt. The stand is fully adjustable, including 150mm (5.12 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. Alternative 100 x 100mm VESA mounting is supported. The ports include; AC power input (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.1 ports and DP 1.4. 2 x 5W speakers are included, too. Further details on the manufacturer’s website, with details on price and availability still to come.
