Further information on supporting our work.OLED ultrawides are popular choices for those seeking an immersive experience. This is what the Acer Predator X34 X delivers, aiming to please gamers with its combination of size, speed and image quality. The monitor adopts aggressive styling, with a ‘tripod style’ coated metal stand base. The bezels are slender at all sides, a dual-stage design with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen and thin hard plastic outer part. Not as slim as in the misleading marketing image below, however. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick beneath the central region of the bottom bezel.
A 34″ LG Display WOLED panel is used with 3440 x 1440 (21:9 ultrawide) resolution, alongside 800R (steep) curve to help aid immersion. Adaptive-Sync is supported, allowing VRR technologies such as AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used. The screen offers ‘flicker-free’ illumination with a 99% DCI-P3 colour gamut specified. Although not currently mentioned, we expect a 250 cd/m² (1000+ cd/m² HDR peak) typical maximum luminance to be specified. The monitor is ‘Eyesafe’ certified (2.0 standard) by TÜV Rheinland, with the blue peak shifted to less energetic wavelengths and the amplitude of the peak reduced to potentially improve viewing comfort.
A 0.01ms grey to grey response time is specified – pay little attention to this exact figure, though OLED technology is known for its exceptional pixel responsiveness. The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified, with additional HDR settings offering higher brightness peaks. This can drive home the advantages of the per-pixel illumination, strong brightness peaks and generous gamut with 10-bit colour support. A height adjustable stand is included and this can be removed via a quick-release mechanism to reveal 100 x 100mm VESA holes. USB-C with 90W PD, DP Alt Mode and upstream data is included with additional USB ports. KVM is supported, allowing quick USB reassignment and display input switching between multiple systems. Further details can be found on this page from the manufacturer with further specifications still to be confirmed. The screen is available from Q2 2024 for $1300 USD.
