Mini LED backlights can uplift SDR content and help create a compelling HDR experience with good bursts of brightness and strong contrast. The Acer XV275U P3 of the Nitro XV5 series provides such an experience with a 165Hz Mini LED VA panel. The monitor includes a brushed metal crescent-shaped stand base and slender neck. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus slender hard plastic outer component. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons beneath the right side of the bottom bezel.

Curved coated metal base

A 27″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) VA panel is used with matte anti-glare screen surface and ~3000:1 static contrast ratio assumed plus 178°/178° viewing angles and 8-bit colour specified. A 170Hz (165Hz + mild factory OC) refresh rate is supported alongside Adaptive-Sync – allowing technologies such as Nvidia’s ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync Premium to be used with 48 – 170Hz VRR range plus LFC. A QD Mini LED backlight with 576 dimming zones provides a 600 cd/m² (1000 cd/m² HDR peak) typical maximum luminance and 99% Adobe RGB colour gamut. The monitor responds to HDR10 content at the DisplayHDR 1000 level, where the Mini LED backlight can be put to use with good bursts of brightness and effective local dimming. And the generous gamut plus 10-bit colour processing playing their part. A 2ms grey to grey response time is specified, caution advised as usual. A crescent of customisable RGB LEDs are located above the stand attachment point. The stand is fully adjustable, including 150mm (5.91 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. It can be detached to reveal provision for 75 x 75mm VESA mounting. The ports face downwards beneath a removable plastic cover and include but aren’t necessarily limited to; 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, DP 1.2a+ (HDR feature set) and a 3.5mm audio output.
