27″ QHD (1440p) monitors with 144Hz+ refresh rates are very popular for a range of uses, including gaming. The Dell G2725D provides this experience, with a 180Hz IPS panel. The monitor uses plenty of matte black plastic, including for the chunky-looking stand base. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with fairly slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons at the rear of the screen, towards the bottom right as viewed from the front.

A chunky stand

A 27″ IPS-type panel is included with 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) resolution and 180Hz refresh rate, more specifically a BOE IPS-ADS part (other panels may also be used). Adaptive-Sync is supported, allowing VRR technologies including Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync to be used, with 48 – 180Hz VRR range plus LFC. 178°/178° viewing angles, 10-bit colour and 1000:1 static contrast ratio are specified. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 400 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 99% sRGB colour gamut – the manufacturer sometimes specifies this gamut even if there’s some extension beyond sRGB. The monitor includes Low Blue Light (LBL) settings to promote greater viewing comfort. A 1ms grey to grey response time is specified, which should be taken with a pinch of salt as usual. The stand is tilt only but can be detached and alternative mounting used with 100 x 100mm VESA holes included at the rear. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4 and a 3.5mm headphone jack. HDMI 2.1 VRR is supported, though the bandwidth is limited to HDMI 2.0 standard (144Hz max at 2560 x 1440).
