For some, the overall experience provided by medium refresh rate QHD VA models is very attractive. The LG UltraGear 27GS60QC (27GS60QC-B owing to the mainly black rear) provides this, with 180Hz QHD VA panel. The monitor uses dark matte plastic extensively, with an angled low-profile base. The top and side bezels use the popular dual-stage design, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen and slim hard outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) takes the form of a central joystick beneath the bottom bezel.

A 27″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) VA panel is adopted, with 180Hz refresh rate and Adaptive-Sync support (VESA AdaptiveSync Display certified). This allows VRR technologies such as AMD FreeSync and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used, with 48 – 180Hz VRR range plus LFC. A 1000R (steep) curve to the screen is designed to draw you in and increase immersion. A 3000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 8-bit colour are specified. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 99% sRGB colour gamut and 300 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. The monitor responds to HDR10 content in a basic way, allowing 10-bit colour processing and a different look to things. But the monitor lacks a high brightness, has no specified local dimming or the wide gamut required for a proper HDR experience. A 1ms grey to grey response time is specified (don’t take too seriously). A tilt-only stand is included, with 100 x 100mm VESA holes for alternative mounting. The ports face backwards in a recessed area above the stand attachment point and include; 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, DP 1.4, a 3.5mm headphone jack and DC power input (external ‘power brick’).
