Further information on supporting our work.IPS Black technology provides the colour performance expected from IPS LCDs with a raised contrast ratio, but has so far been restricted to 60Hz maximum. The Dell UltraSharp U2724D addresses this with its 120Hz capable IPS Black panel. The monitor has an understated home-office design, in keeping with other members of the series. This includes a satin-finish silver plastic stand neck and base. The bezels are dual-stage with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic part – particularly slender at the top and sides. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear, towards the right side as viewed from the front. A separate dedicated power button is also included. The monitor includes an ambient light sensor which can adjust brightness and colour temperature according to ambient lighting.
A 27″ LG Display IPS Black panel is used with 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) resolution and support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The specified contrast ratio is 2000:1 rather than the usual 1000:1. A matte anti-glare screen surface is included and 178°/178° viewing angles plus 10-bit colour specified. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 350 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 98% DCI-P3 colour gamut. A factory calibration is included with DeltaE <2 specified within the sRGB and DCI-P3 colour spaces (using appropriate modes). The monitor includes 'ComfortView Plus' (TÜV Rheinland certified Low Blue Light Hardware Solution), with the peak of blue light shifted to slightly less energetic wavelengths, potentially enhancing viewing comfort.
A 5ms grey to grey response time is specified, to be approached with caution as usual. The stand is fully adjustable, including 150mm (5.91 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. It can be removed via quick-release mechanism to reveal provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), HDMI ‘2.1’ (HDMI 2.1 VRR supported), DP 1.4, DP 1.4 output (for MST daisy chaining), USB-C upstream (data only), 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and a 3.5mm audio line-out. A 3rd USB 3.2 Gen 2 port and USB-C downstream (15W PD) is located at the bottom of the screen, outside the main port area for easy access. PbP/PiP for 2 systems is also supported.
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$480 USD.
