~32″ QHD models provide a decent pixel density and a large screen, for strong immersion or to facilitate moving the monitor a bit further back. The MSI MAG 325CQRF-QD provides this, with its VA panel focused on providing relatively strong contrast as well. The monitor includes dark matte materials with a range of textures and adopts the common dual-stage bezel design. With slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear, towards the right side as viewed from the front.

A dark matte appearance

A 31.5″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) resolution VA panel is used, with 1000R (strong) curve to draw you into the experience. Other aspects of note include a matte anti-glare screen surface, 3500:1 static contrast ratio, 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) colour and 178°/178° viewing angles. A 170Hz (144Hz + factory overclock) refresh rate is supported alongside Adaptive-Sync, allowing technologies such as Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync Premium to be used, with 48 – 170Hz VRR range plus LFC. A flicker-free QD LED backlight provides a colour gamut of 96.8% DCI-P3 (93.7% Adobe RGB, 128.5% sRGB) and 300 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. Basic HDR10 support is included, allowing the screen to respond to HDR content with 10-bit colour processing. But not requiring the high brightness, local dimming or a generous gamut that defines a true HDR experience.

Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included to aid relaxing viewing and a 1ms grey to grey response time is specified – usual dose of salt required. The stand includes tilt and limited height (100mm or 3.94 inches) adjustment, with provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting also included. ‘Mystic Light’ RGB lighting elements are included above the attachment point. The ports face downwards and include; a DC power input (external ‘power brick’), DP 1.2a+ (HDR feature set), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, USB-C (15W PD and DP Alt Mode), a 3.5mm headphone jack and 2 USB 2.0 ports plus Type-B upstream.

A touch of RGB
