The 2560 x 1440 resolution remains popular for productivity purposes. Delivering a comfortable pixel density and good amount of desktop ‘real-estate’. The Dell U2722D and U2722D of the UltraSharp series are built around this. The monitors have the simple and minimalistic styling the series is known for. This includes a slender dual-stage (‘InfinityEdge’) bezel design at all 4 sides. With a slim panel border that’s flush with the rest of the screen plus a thin hard plastic outer part. The stand has a low-profile base with satin silver-coloured plastic covering at the top. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the monitor. A dedicated power button accompanies this.

Minimalistic styling

A 27″ IPS-type panel with 2560 x 1440 (WQHD or 1440p) resolution is employed. This supports a 60Hz refresh rate and has a specified 1000:1 static contrast ratio and 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles. 10-bit colour is supported (8-bit + FRC assumed), with the monitor factory calibrated with an average DeltaE <2 under the sRGB colour space. A flicker-free WLED backlight delivers a colour gamut of 95% DCI-P3 and a 350 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. This includes a blue peak that's shifted to less energetic wavelengths to potentially enhance viewing comfort. Dell refers to this as ‘ComfortView Plus’. A Low Blue Light (LBL) setting in the form of a ‘5000K’ colour temperature setting is also included. A 4ms grey to grey response time is specified, to be taken with the usual pinch of salt. The included stand attaches using a quick-release mechanism and offers full ergonomic flexibility. It can be removed to reveal 100 x 100mm VESA holes for alternative mounting. A comprehensive array of ports are included, facing facing downwards. These include; AC power input (internal power converter), HDMI 2.0, DP 1.4, DP out (for MST daisy chaining), USB-C upstream (data only), 2 USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, 3.5mm audio out and RJ45 port. Outside of the main port another USB 3.2 Gen2 port is located alongside a USB-C downstream port with 15W PD. In addition to these ports, the ‘DE’ model has the following in the main port area; USB-C (90W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data), another USB 3.2 Gen2 port and an RJ45 port.
