A good range of 2560 x 1440 (WQHD) models with high refresh rate are now available. Budget options with IPS panels are particularly popular, which is where the ViewSonic VX2768-2K-MHD slots in, as a follow-up to the VX2758-2K-MHD (VX2705-2KP-MHD in some regions). The monitor has a simple home-office design, with matte plastic and grey plastics, a thick bottom bezel and slimmer dual-stage bezels at the top and side. This design is popular on modern monitors and encompasses a slender panel border that’s flush with the rest of the screen, plus a slim hard plastic outer component. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by pressable buttons that face downwards at the right side of the bottom bezel.
A 27” 2560 x 1440 (WQHD) IPS-type panel is used, which based on the specifications is most likely an Innolux AAS (Azimuthal Anchoring Switch) part. This includes a light matte anti-glare screen surface, 1000:1 static contrast ratio and 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles. A 144Hz refresh rate is supported, alongside Adaptive-Sync. This includes AMD FreeSync Premium with a 48 – 144Hz VRR range (plus LFC). 10-bit colour support is included via 8-bit + FRC dithering. A flicker-free WLED backlight is used with 350 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. A colour gamut isn’t specified, but we’d expect this to be similar to this model’s predecessor, 131% sRGB (~95% DCI-P3). “Blue Light Filter” Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included to aid relaxing viewing. A 3ms grey to grey response time is specified, alongside a 1ms MPRT response time if the included ‘1ms Mode’ strobe backlight setting is used. Don’t pay too much attention to these figures. The included stand is tilt only, but 100 x 100mm VESA holes are included for alternative mounting. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, DP 1.2a and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 2 x 2W speakers are included for basic sound output.
Further information can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$300. In some regions such as Europe, Australia and the UK this model is referred to as the VX2705-2KP-MHD.
