The 2560 x 1440 resolution and 27″ screen size is a popular choice for many users for both home and office use. The ViewSonic VP2768a (not to be confused with the older model without the ‘a’) is one such offering, a member of the ‘ColorPro’ line focused on colour-critical workloads. The monitor features a ‘4-sided borderless’ design, or dual-stage as we prefer to call it. This includes a slim panel border that’s flush with the rest of the screen plus a slender hard plastic outer component. The bezel appears uniformly slender at all sides, including at the bottom which is usually quite a bit chunkier than with this model. The OSD (On Screen Display) controls are located at the rear of the monitor, running vertically down the right side as viewed from the front. A joystick is included for intuitive navigation, alongside a series of buttons.
A 27″ IPS-type panel is employed with 2560 x 1440 (WQHD) resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. A matte anti-glare screen surface is included, whilst a 1000:1 static contrast ratio and 178°/178° viewing angles are specified. The monitor is factory calibrated with a DeltaE <2 with presets focused on various standard gamut work spaces; 'sRGB', 'EBU', 'SMPTE-C', 'Rec. 709', 'SMP-C' and 'EBU'. The monitor includes a true 8-bit panel and includes a 14-bit hardware-addressable 3D LUT. The monitor can be factory calibrated using free to download Colorbration software plus a compatible colorimeter or spectrophotometer, such as X-Rite i1Display Pro or i1 Pro 2. A digital Uniformity Compensation (UC) setting is included, alongside Low Blue Light (LBL) settings to enhance viewing comfort. licker-free WLED backlight is used, offering a 350 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and ~sRGB colour gamut. A 5ms grey to grey response time is specified. The stand offers full adjustment and can be removed to reveal 100 x 100mm VESA holes. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), HDMI 1.4, DP 1.2 input, USB-C (90W PD and DP Alt Mode), DP 1.2 output and 3 USB 2.0 ports (plus upstream).
Further information can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$440.
