The ~32″ screen size is often considered a sweet spot for the 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) resolution. Plenty of pixels plus a high pixel density spread across a generous screen size, providing excellent ‘desktop real estate’ for working with strong detail and clarity potential. The Dell P3222QE of the infamous P Series offers this combination. The screen offers the unfussy and minimalistic styling the series is known for. The stand is coated with satin-finish silver plastic, with a white-coloured company logo towards the bottom of the neck. The bottom bezel is matte black plastic, with the company’s signature ‘vertical slit’ design white power LED towards the right side. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with a slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen. And a slender hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front. A dedicated power button is also included there.
A 31.5″ 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) IPS-type panel is employed. This includes a matte anti-glare screen surface, 60Hz refresh rate, 1000:1 static contrast ratio and 178°/178° viewing angles. 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) colour support is included, whilst a flicker-free WLED backlight delivers a 99% sRGB colour gamut and 350 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. The screen includes ‘ComfortView Plus’, which means it has a shifted blue peak to less energetic wavelengths to promote greater viewing comfort. And includes a ‘Warm’ setting for Low Blue Light (LBL) purposes. A 5ms grey to grey response time is specified, but as usual don’t pay too much attention to this figure. The stand attaches using a quick-release mechanism, with 100 x 100mm VESA holes included for alternative mounting. The provided stand offers full ergonomic flexibility, including 150mm (5.91 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), HDMI 2.0, DP 1.4, USB-C (65W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data), 4 USB 3.2 Gen1 ports and an RJ45 LAN port. 2 of the USB 3.2 Gen1 ports are located right at the bottom of the screen outside the main port area, for easy access.
Further details are available on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$800 USD.
