Further information on supporting our work. Many people are aware of the attractions of OLED monitors for gaming and other uses, but price can be a prohibitive factor. The AOC Q27G4ZDR lowers this barrier to entry, focusing on that familiar QD-OLED experience but with cut down HDR brightness capabilities and a reduced price. The monitor includes a low-profile polygonal stand base with red-coloured cable-tidy integrated into the neck. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard outer component. An ‘active area’ (overprovisioning of pixels) between the image and panel border is used for one of the image retention mitigation measures. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons which face downwards towards the right side of the bottom bezel.
A 26.5″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) Samsung Display QD-OLED panel is used with 240Hz refresh rate and VRR support via Adaptive-Sync (and presumably HDMI 2.1 VRR). This allows VRR technologies such as Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync to be used, with 48 – 240Hz VRR range plus LFC assumed. The screen has a glossy anti-reflective finish, as usual for a QD-OLED. Other specifications include a 1.5m:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit colour. The screen is ‘flicker-free’ with 99.1% DCI-P3 (147.6% sRGB) colour gamut. The monitor provides a dynamic HDR10 experience with 10-bit colour, a generous colour gamut and per-pixel illumination put to good use. Higher brightness peaks are also offered than under SDR, but a 400 cd/m² typical maximum luminance (10% APL, HDR) is specified rather than a 1000 cd/m² peak brightness. A 0.03ms grey to grey response time is specified, with OLED technology known for exceptional pixel responsiveness, whilst ‘Low Input Lag’ is also specified. The stand is fully adjustable, including 130mm (5.12 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. 100 x 100mm VESA mounting is also supported. The ports face downwards and include; a 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4 (with DSC), a 3.5mm headphone jack, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (plus Type-B upstream) and an AC power input (internal power converter).

Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed with an MSRP of £399.00.
