The march of the high refresh rate IPS models continues. The Acer XV252Q Z (XV252Q Zbmiiprx extended designation) of the Nitro XV2 series is one such model, built for a combination of speed and colour quality. The monitor has the simple homely styling that the series is known for. Slim dual-stage bezels are employed, including a slender panel border that’s flush with the rest of the screen. Plus a slim hard plastic outer component. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons and a joystick at the rear of the monitor, running down the right side as viewed from the front.
A 24.5″ IPS-type panel with 1920 x 1080 (Full HD or 1080p) resolution is used. A 280Hz refresh rate is supported, 240Hz plus internal factory overclock. Adaptive-Sync also features, including AMD FreeSync Premium with a 48 – 240Hz VRR range plus LFC support. Additional aspects of the specification include a 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178° horizontal and vertical and viewing angles. A matte anti-glare screen surface is included, whilst the monitor features true 8-bit colour. A flicker-free WLED backlight is included, offering a 99% sRGB colour gamut and 400 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included for a more relaxing viewing experience. The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified, a basic HDR level that allows the monitor to respond to HDR10 content with reasonably high brightness and 10-bit colour processing. But a brilliant brightness level and enhanced contrast from local dimming is not a requirement here. An ‘up to 0.5ms’ grey to grey response time is specified, or 1ms MPRT response time using the VRB (Visual Response Boost) strobe backlight setting setting. As usual, don’t pay too much attention to these figures. The included stand offers full ergonomic flexibility, with 100 x 100mm VESA holes also provided. The ports face downwards and include; DP 1.2a+ (HDR featureset), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack and AC power input (internal power converter). 2 x 2W speakers are included for basic sound output.
Further information can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$380 USD.
