The Gigabyte AORUS MO34WQC2 joins the party, with a ‘gen 2.5’ 34″ QD-OLED. This includes a ‘squarer’ subpixel structure than the original (‘gen 1’) 34″ ultrawides, reducing fringing. HDMI 2.1 is included, providing a 120Hz ‘4K’ UHD signal for devices such as the Xbox Series X and PS5. The screen includes the popular ‘dual stage’ bezel design at the top and sides, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer part. An ‘active area’ (overprovisioning of pixels) surrounds the image – used for a pixel shifting image retention mitigation measure. Additional ‘OLED Care’ features are included with this in mind and a 3-year warranty is included, with burn-in cover. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick plus shortcut buttons behind in the central region of the bottom bezel.
A 34″ Samsung Display QD-OLED (Quantum Dot OLED) panel is used with 3440 x 1440 (21:9 ultrawide) resolution, a glossy anti-reflective screen surface and 240Hz refresh rate. A 1800R (relatively subtle) curve is included to help draw you in a bit. VRR support is included via Adaptive-Sync and HDMI 2.1 VRR, allowing VRR technologies such as AMD FreeSync and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used. A 1.5m:1 static contrast ratio is specified alongside 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit colour support. The monitor has ‘flicker-free’ illumination with a specified 250 cd/m² (100% APL – full white) and 1000 cd/m² HDR peak luminance, alongside 99% DCI-P3 colour gamut. The monitor responds to HDR10 content with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification, though additional higher brightness HDR modes are included as well. The screen can put is per-pixel illumination, generous DCI-P3 coverage and 10-bit colour support to good use, alongside some strong brightness peaks.
A 0.03ms grey to grey response time is specified – as usual pay little attention to the exact figure, though OLED models are known for exceptional pixel responsiveness. The stand attaches centrally via quick-release mechanism and can be removed to reveal provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting. The stand includes tilt, swivel and height (130mm or 5.12 inches) adjustment. The ports face downwards and include; 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4 (with DSC), USB-C (18W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data), 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (plus Type-B upstream), 3.5mm microphone jack, 3.5mm headphone jack and AC power input (internal power converter). KVM is supported for easy display input switching and USB peripheral sharing between 2 systems, alongside PiP/PbP. 2 x 3W speakers are also included for basic sound output.
